Site of the Week
The Cheetah Spot http://www.cheetahspot.com
For the zoological speed-freaks out there, a website dedicated to ‘the spotted one’ - which, translated into Hindi, is ‘cheetah’.
We all know that cheetahs are the world’s fastest land mammals, capable of comfortably hitting the UK speed limit, but other than that, cheetahs are a bit of a mystery. Time to check the Internet: at this site you can read up on the rest of the story. Find out about cheetah evolution, and why all cheetahs alive today are a closely related family. Learn about cheetah social life and eating habits, and listen to a sound file of a cheetah’s ‘chirp’ call. Sounds more like a puppy or a small bird than a cat.
As species-dedicated sites go, this one’s not bad, though it would be nice to have access to some bigger pictures, and a few more sounds. The information isn’t exhaustive, but the links section (with one link) will provide you with added details by pointing you to the Big Cats http://www.bigcats.com/index.shtml website.
Oh, and click the background ‘music’ button on the intro page with caution.
