Fish FAQ http://www.wh.whoi.edu/faq/index.html
There’s definitely something fishy going on here. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, if you want to know the answer to just about every fish-related question there is…
The Fish FAQ is a large collection of Frequently Asked Questions relating to fish and much more - you’ll find questions on marine molluscs, crustaceans and mammals too. (Perhaps the site should be renamed the ‘Anything that Lives in Water FAQ’. Not quite as catchy, one has to admit.) Browse down the list and you’ll notice that there’s a broad range of questions, from the biological, like “how many fish species are there?” and “do lobsters lay eggs?”, through to more unusual questions, like “how do porcupine fish inflate themselves?” and “can fish swim backwards?” Many questions relate to human consumption of fish, a reflection of the fact that this FAQ is part of the US Northeast Fisheries Science Center http://www.wh.whoi.edu/ website. But it’s not about eating fish regardless of the consequences - lots of questions relate to the threats faced by some marine species, and plenty of information is provided in the NEFSC site on the vital role of research into maintaining fish stocks at a sustainable level.
