Site of the Week
Lioncrusher’s Domain http://www.lioncrusher.com
Whatever bizarre images the title of this site may conjure up, it’s not about squashing things, nor is it exclusively about lions - it’s a site dedicated to four groups of wild carnivores. Divided up between dogs, cats, hyenas and bears, the site is simply designed but packed to the rafters with natural history info, along with plenty of sounds to hear and pictures to look at.
Once you delve in, it doesn’t take long to realise that the site is huge. For each of the many species covered, there is a separate section with a comprehensive factfile, collection of pictures, and links to further information where possible. The reading material for each species is researched in great detail, with everything from taxonomy to behaviour covered. For picture lovers, there are separate cat and wolf archives, boasting a grant total of over 600 and 700 images respectively. There’s also the chance to send eCards, and to go to other sites on similar subjects.
Despite the large amount of material, there doesn’t seem to be any way to search through the site other than by trawling through the links. Fortunately, the way it’s all put together means that you should find your way to anything you’re after fairly easily. All in all, apart from the section on petfood, which should perhaps be avoided by younger surfers, this is a goldmine for carnivore enthusiasts everywhere.
