Site of the Week

This week, two sites for the price of one… both on the theme of plantlife viewed in unusual and interesting ways.

Plants in Motion http://sunflower.bio.indiana.edu/~rhangart/plantmotion/plantsinmotion.html

The first is a botanical site from the University of Indiana, the main attraction being time-lapse movies of plants growing and flowers opening. There’s also information on how the movies were made, and some still photos.

Floral Radiographs http://www-personal.umich.edu/~agrxray/index.html

The second is a small but perfectly formed website, with genuinely unusual contents. This is the brainchild of a dentist who, it seems, got bored of x-raying mouths and stuck his potplant on the reclining chair. The results are portraits of flowers - from the inside. It’s just a shame there aren’t more examples.
