Ultimate Ungulates http://www.ultimateungulate.com/

Hoofed-mammal fans prepare yourselves - your prayers have been answered. The Ultimate Ungulate pages have only been going for a year, and already they’re crammed with factfiles and pictures of all your favourite species. Now you have the chance to know all you need to know.

The choice of species in the database seems fairly random so far - but the unusual ungulates seem to have been covered first, so you’re quite likely to come across something you’ve never heard of. Do you know much about the red brocket? Or know what a nilgai looks like? What about the Vu Quang ox, only discovered by scientists in 1992? Follow the menus and you’ll find out about their evolutionary backgrounds, where they live, and what they do to make a living. A particularly useful feature is the list of links for each animal, which, like our very own Wolfspider section, points you to further reading material and pictures if you want to find out even more.

Admittedly, this is less comprehensive than some wildlife sites- it would be great to hear some sounds for example, and a few of the species I had hoped to see weren’t there yet. But the author is adding and updating all the time, so hopefully it’s just a matter of time.

If it’s ungulates you’re after, this is the place to bookmark. It’s worth it for the picture of the aardvark http://www.ultimateungulate.com/aardvark.html alone.
